I Have Set You An Example

"For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you." John 13:15

A father and son walked through a field covered with snow and as the father entered the field the son followed. The father paid particular attention to avoid the bogs he knew were in the field and the son took great effort to step in his father's footprints.

After the father and son had crossed the field they looked back. Seeing only one set of footprints across the field behind them they grinned at each other. Then they continued on to find mother and the girls to tell them.

You and I walk behind Heavenly Father each day. We step where He steps and sometimes it takes great effort. Hasn't He lovingly and faithfully led us to step around the bogs as we follow Him? He gives us confidence. We may guide others because He has shown us right living, the Way in Christ. And by God's Grace we've got Jesus' Alive Presence to share.

Our witness is that He will do for others what He has done for us. He is our example of tremendous compassion and caring-- we give, forgive, and love as Heavenly Father has given to us. Our greatest Gift from Heavenly Father is Jesus Christ-- who shows us and tells us who Heavenly Father is now, and will be tomorrow-- faithfully loving and good.
