Are we content in all circumstances? Paul says that he has learned how to be fully content even through heartaches and rejoicing, suffering and peace, anguish and gratitude. He knows how to live in such a way that his circumstances do not control his inner life.
The secret, he says, is the enablement from God which focuses him so that he deals with difficulty creatively. Christ strengthens Paul.
Doing all things through Christ Jesus is the heart of being strengthened. We place ourselves in Jesus' charge so that in all circumstances, in every situation, at all times we are strengthened by Jesus. We can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens us.
Paul writes: ... I have learned to be content with whatever I have. I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.
