Of the countless number of mothers that I have know in my lifetime I have to admit that my own mother outshines them all. Mother is a preacher's kid, her best quality is her laugh, each time I am with her I think about how beautiful she is, and she prayerfully committed me into Christ's Care before I was born. Mother made sure that we three kids went to Church every Sunday, fell in love with reading the Bible at bedtime, and because she tremendously loved Jesus then her three kids loved Jesus.
It was during a regular Church Worship Service, while I was swinging my feet under the Church pew because I could not reach the floor yet, that the Lord clearly spoke to me and said, "I want you to preach like that man up there." Up in the pulpit was Dr. Lem Fynn, an evangelistic solid Bible based preacher. I told Jesus, "Yes Jesus." Then I turned to my mother and told her what Jesus had just said. Her eyes shone with His Light as she nodded her head in agreement with what Jesus had just said.
When I graduated from High School my mother graduated from Nursing School and worked as a Registered Nurse. Out of all the nurses at one large hospital she worked at she was awarded the Nursing Award of Excellence. The hospital job I thought was the most difficult of all the jobs in a hospital, and the one in which my mother really excelled, was the triage nurse in the Emergency Room at the hospital's busiest times.
My mother's faith in Jesus led her to marry my dad, raise her three kids as firm believers in Christ and His Resurrection, and she joyfully and untiringly accepted her call from Him to go into nursing and work hard until her retirement. I hope my ministry, my mothering of my kid, and my love for Christ honors my mother. I pray each day for her health and that she have His joy in her life. I pray that for my dad too. I thank our Lord for giving me a mother who loves Jesus Christ with her whole heart.
