The Actions John Suggests

As John the Baptist traveled throughout the region of the Jordan preaching repentance which bears fruitful life, he Baptized. People then pulled him aside to ask, "What then should we do?"

To all listening John said, if you have two coats then give one away to anyone who has none and similarly with food. To tax collectors he said, collect only what you are supposed to collect. To soldiers he said, do not to extort money from others by threats or harm or false accusations, and be satisfied with wages.

What then should we do? Practice helpful and kind actions toward the poor, especially with clothing and food. Also, notice when you are tempted toward greed and reject those actions-- choose the honest and truthful Way of Jesus. And, do not harm or lie to others and let God's Peace rule in your heart in matters of money.

Words of advice may come from Holy Spirit; you discern. What you say and do for God matters tremendously within God's Kingdom realm within our hearts.

God is in control and God's Kingdom people make this world better than it has to be.

10 And the crowds asked him, “What, then, should we do?” 11 In reply he said to them, “Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none, and whoever has food must do likewise.” 12 Even tax collectors came to be baptized, and they asked him, “Teacher, what should we do?” 13 He said to them, “Collect no more than the amount prescribed for you.” 14 Soldiers also asked him, “And we, what should we do?” He said to them, “Do not extort money from anyone by threats or false accusation, and be satisfied with your wages.” Luke 3:10-14
