A Hubble Man

When I look at your heavens, the work of Your fingers,

the moon and the stars that You have established;

what are humans that you are mindful of them,

mortals that you care for them? Psalm 8:3-4

While my family stayed at the hotel we used the shared computers on the first floor. Each time we checked our email we watched the delight and squeals of a young father and his son who checked the HubbleSite.org each day for new photos of God's Universe. Amazing photos! Awesome delight as the telescope traveled into galaxies we've only dreamed of visiting. And our eyes danced with theirs in wonder of what God as done to make the heavens glorious.

Jesus came to tell us and show us that as glorious as the heavens are, we are fearfully and wonderfully made. He pointed out that our Christian foundation and destiny are not only found in our uniqueness like fingerprints and dna but truly within Christ's Spirit living in our hearts and minds. The Spirit of the Living God resides within us and in this way Christ has crowned us with glory and honor.

For Christ's Spirit within you may heal you physically and mentally, may teach you and lead you, and will draw you into the Holy Presence of Christ Alive in you and moving in the World. The Spirit's invisibility is Spirit's greatest advantage because when we look at the heavens and God and the Word's creative and energizing Resurrection Spirit we are recharged and renewed. And we pray Christ opens the eyes of our hearts to view Spirit's faith, hope, and love in Hubble viewing ways that awe us and inspire us to hope other's see Christ's greatness. May we be invitational and ask others to view Him as we do.
