Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall once said, "Where you see wrong or inequality or injustice, speak out, because this is your country. This is your democracy. Make it. Protect it. Pass it on."
We are grateful for those who have protected our country and fought valiantly for our Nation. We do not take our freedom for granted. And the good that has been done is passed on from generation to generation, ensuring that the care we give to others makes a meaningful difference. Such care is Christ's work, and He has taught us well.
On this Independence Day, we reflect on current events: the high heat index disproportionately affecting those in lower-income brackets, legal decisions that contradict the Biblical principles upon which our country was founded, and the ongoing issue of gun violence in our communities and schools.
May we speak up to our local representatives so that changes are made to seek justice for the oppressed and the poor. We have the freedom to speak out and prayerfully watch that we are doing all that we can for the last, least, and lost.
'learn to do good; seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow.' Isaiah 1:17'
