Cast All Your Anxiety on Him

1 Peter 5:6–7
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”
Peter would emphasize that word all — “Cast all your anxiety on Him.” Too often, we only bring the big burdens to the Lord, while the small ones are left to pile up. But those little cares, like slow drips from a leaky spigot, can quickly fill a bucket until it overflows. Before we realize it, our hearts feel heavy, our patience wears thin, and life becomes intolerable.
Jesus tells us that God has made provision for every care — large or small — to be brought to Him in prayer. In that sacred time with Him, He lifts the weight from our shoulders and replaces it with His peace. Freed from the burden, we can then look at our challenges step by step, following His lead with renewed clarity.
Someone once observed that we often face life’s great crises with more faith than we endure life’s small irritations. These “little things” can wear us down if we don’t bring them to the Lord. The hymn writer captures it well:
“Oh, what Peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.”
So here’s a simple practice: write down even the smallest cares that trouble you. Bring them to God in prayer, thank Him for caring about every detail of your life, and then — as a sign of release — tear the paper up and throw it away. Let that act remind you: those burdens are no longer yours to carry.
Prayer:
Gracious Jesus, as we lay our anxieties before God, clear the path of our hearts so the Holy Spirit may swiftly lift us from dismay. Fill us with Your Peace as we arise from thankful prayer, overflowing with trust in Your care. In Christ’s Name, Amen.
With you in Christ Jesus,
