Wesley, a theologian with Christian vision, is not pointing out a mystery. He is simply stating that to be doing good in the Name of Jesus Christ causes us to come alive mentally and spiritually. Both the giver and the receiver benefit in healthy ways.
A study in Tecumseh, Michigan, showed that regular service to others, more than any other factor, dramatically increases life expectancy. Doing good strengthens the heart, firms up the immune system, reduces stress, and lowers cholesterol.
