Come To Call Not The Righteous But Sinners

The Pharisees and their scribes were complaining to his disciples, saying, “Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” Jesus answered, “Those who are well have no need of a Physician, but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:30-32

The tax collectors were known for cheating people and placing financial burdens on families. They were sinners. When the Pharisees and scribes as Jesus regarding His mealtime friends then Jesus takes this opportunity to teach us. Jesus has come to save and redeem us. To be in right relationship with Him we humble ourselves and repent.

Repentance is your heartfelt apology for your sins. For it hurts Him deeply when we sin and sin separates us from loving discipleship to Him. Confession is good. He forgives and gives us strength to not sin again. Sin makes us sick and Jesus is our Physician for all that ails us. Having been redeemed and righted we are thankful to Him for this and the blessings of His Presence in our lives.
