In answer to the question I hope you said, "I know a lot of helpers, including myself!" As the community of Christ we are on the look-out for ways to serve Him. You may invite a friend to join you, make an announcement through social media about the need, or you may just go and get the small job of helping finished on your own.
Christ directs us to see the need and then give help. And at times there are needs in others that are invisible. An invisible need came up during a lecture/question session.
Dr. Menninger, a famous psychiatrist, had given a lecture on how to stay mentally healthy. After lecturing he gave time for questions. One person asked him, "What would you advise a person to do if that person felt a nervous breakdown coming on?"
Most thought that he was going to say to send that person to a psychiatrist. His answer was a good one. "Advise them to lock up their home, go across the railway tracks, and find someone in need. Then do something right then to help that person." Helping others blesses us and glorifies Christ.
Jesus said, "As you did it to one of the least of these who are members of My family, you did it to Me." (Matthew 25:40) God loves people and giving to others of our time, talents, and money are ways that we serve God. So choose to help others and be blessed as you help.
