The Angel appears before Mary and says, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. (Luke 1:30) The favor of God is something she can respond to with a grateful heart. Her heart is ready to say, "Yes," before the Angel asks her to do what God needs for her to do. "Yes," she'll bear God's child, but how? And the Angel then tells her how it will happen.
Like Mary, we have found favor with God. God has given His Son to each one of us and we are favored with God. Each person who has been saved by Jesus has God's favor. Our love for Jesus is unique and heartwarming: this is not just a holiday for us. Christmas is about softly spoken joy in our Savior's birth. Our hearts lift; favored by God in loving His Son, dear to us and near to us.
