Holy Ground

Moses' father-in-law, Jethro, was the priest of Midian and a steadying influence in Moses’ life and family. Imagine if Moses had known ahead of time that God was about to appear to him in a blazing fire! There surely would have been a deep conversation with Jethro about what such an encounter might mean. Even so, God may meet with us in unexpected places. For Moses, it was not in a sanctuary or shrine—it was in the desert, with dusty sandals, wandering sheep, and a bush that blazed but was not consumed. There, Moses was commanded to take off his shoes, for he was standing on holy ground.
At 80 years old, Moses’ life was dramatically redirected. God’s call was not hindered by age or circumstance. With divine power and purpose, Moses was sent to confront Pharaoh again and again until God’s people were set free. What had been decades of slavery and despair were suddenly transformed into a future filled with promise. Fruitfulness was ahead because God Himself had made the way.
The same is true for you. In Jesus Christ, God has already made a way. The Resurrection proves that evil and oppression do not have the final word. Christ’s victory means you are free to live with hope, with purpose, and with strength. The Holy Spirit lights a flame within your heart, guiding you forward, lifting your spirit, and giving you courage to meet God in the everyday moments of life. To Him be the glory, now and forever!
"Now to Him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen."
—Ephesians 3:20-21
Closing Prayer
Gracious Heavenly Father,
We thank You that just as You called Moses in the desert, You call us in the middle of our everyday lives. Open our eyes to see the holy ground where we stand, and open our hearts to hear Your voice. Fill us with the power of Your Holy Spirit so that we may walk forward in faith, trusting in the freedom and victory Jesus has given us. May we live each day to bring glory to Your name, and may others see Christ alive within us. In the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, we pray. Amen.
