How To Heal A Relationship

There are at least three types of people reading this right now. The first have longed for love and approval from a family member. The second is estranged from that someone else. And the third, for some unexplained reason, cannot express love and affection adequately. All three types may wash over us one time or another and there is a Biblical solution offered to us coming down from God through the ages.

Psalm 34:12-14 says, 'Which of you desires life, and covets many days to enjoy good? Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.' (Psalm 34:12-14) Pursue a great life in union with God and your love will flow out through your words!

Everyone can write a letter or email to begin the process of healing a relationship. While a phone call may seem like a bigger task it is also a way to show that you would like to repair things. Does everything in the past need to be hashed out as you build a new level of relationship again? Perhaps that will occur naturally at a later time and yet it is not necessary for a new beginning-- water under the bridge, so to speak.

Keep your tongue from evil by speaking kind words. Let your eyes express your kindness too. Words clarify your expression of love as your conversations are supportive and joyful. And it's important to tell no lies. Lies only lead to deceit and your openly loving words are the healing keys to repairing the relationship.

Here, you may ask: Why do I have to be the first to make the reparations?

Because you have the Holy Spirit's Power within you. You can be first to offer healing. Your kindness will show through and the other person will be influenced by Holy Spirit. Christ's love melts even the coldest heart. I invite you to pray before you act and be guided by Holy Spirit in loving actions, words, and follow-through.
