Your Deep Center of Faith

Her young son and daughter made her a paper sign for her prayer closet that reads, "God’s War Room." It hangs on the door as a sacred reminder: this is where battles are fought in prayer. As the Holy Spirit leads this faithful mother, her prayers rise to Heaven and join with the will of our Heavenly Father to go to war against diseases, sicknesses, and all that threatens to harm.
Jesus teaches, “Whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” (Matthew 6:6)
We ask ourselves: is Jesus saying that our spiritual lives should be private—or that what we bring before God in prayer is deeply personal? The answer may be both. Jesus, our perfect example, often withdrew from the crowds—even His disciples—to pray alone. It was in these quiet, sacred moments that He communed with His Father. And it was because of His solitude in prayer that the disciples were moved to ask, “Lord, teach us to pray.” He answered by giving us the precious gift of The Lord’s Prayer.
This mother begins her prayer time in the closet with that very prayer. Though her children allow her only five minutes of undisturbed time before they “need her,” she makes those moments count. She prays aloud, her voice echoing under the stairs, not only so God may hear—but so her children may listen, learn, and imitate.
This is what it looks like to pass on the deep center of faith—to live a life where prayer is not hidden away from others, but boldly shared in a way that inspires those in your home. Your prayer life becomes a testimony to the ones closest to you: children, spouse, parents, or loved ones.
Let us join together now in prayer for the little ones who are in need of healing and hope.
