Jesus told them another parable: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.” Matthew 13:33
In Denver I lived just around the corner from a woman who joined the Quakers. Our toddlers played together and we talked and laughed together often. One morning she brought me a sourdough starter. It was a cup and a half of liquid goo, just teaming with active yeast and sourdough qualities. Inside the baggie of starter was liquid activity!
I was to mix it with three cups of flour then set the lump in the bottom of the largest bowl I possessed. It needed a warm place to rise and rise it did! It got to place a cup of the new mixture into a baggie as starter for another baking time, and I punched down the rest for a second rising, then baking. But let me tell you about the rising time!!
That first rising rose to seven times its size!! The bowl was just about to overflow because the yeast was so active. And Jesus talks about His Kingdom of Heaven just like the starter yeast and it is! His Word expands kindness, love, peace, holiness, and His Kingdom within your heart and makes it overflow right out of your mouth to others.
How can you not help but speak about Jesus Christ? Does not your heart whisper continual thanks to Jesus Christ for the blessings that are continually with you each day? Isn't it thrilling to pray the Holy Spirit's alive Presence within the hearts of your family, friends, community, and Nation as He is totally active like starter yeast? Christ be praised that your heart is continually being replenished with the active yeast of the Kingdom of Heaven which is Christ's victorious Presence!
