Home Of The Brave

I’ve just returned home from a Naturalization Ceremony held at my mother's retirement community. A local judge officiated as thirty-five adults from a variety of nations became citizens of the United States of America. The ceremony was filled with gratitude and hope. Mother’s choir sang "The Star-Spangled Banner," while a drummer and fife opened the event with patriotic music.

As I sat and watched these new citizens take their oath, I found myself reflecting on the journeys that had brought them to this day. Each person carried a unique story—years of work, sacrifice, perseverance, and hope. Yet all were united by the belief that something good lay ahead.

As I watched these new citizens take their oath, I was reminded that bravery is often found in ordinary people who keep moving forward in hope. The brave are not those who never face uncertainty; they are those who continue despite it.

During the ceremony, the Lord brought to my heart the words of David:

"I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!" (Psalm 27:13-14)

The Apostle Paul expresses a similar confidence when he writes, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).

Whatever you may be facing, be brave in your faith. Trust God's heart when you cannot yet trace His hand. Continue to pray. Continue to believe. Continue to wait upon the Lord.

The Christian life requires a different kind of bravery. It is the courage to trust God when answers are delayed, to hope when circumstances are difficult, and to believe that God's goodness is still ahead.

In a world that often celebrates physical bravery, God also honors the brave heart that continues to trust Him.

Blessings in Christ,
